UTHERLAND SPRINGS, TEXAS—A shooter wearing all dark and a ballistic vest opened discharge with a rifle outside a little Baptist church in rustic Texas and kept discharging inside the building Sunday, killing no less than 26 individuals and transforming a minor town east of San Antonio into the scene of the nation's latest mass frightfulness.
